“This series of 22 sketches on paper served as an escape from the large scale canvas paintings I’m used to. I define them as the divine sculptures of an overactive mind- one which is constantly world-building to the point of restless overflow. These are mental studies of Amusement Parks. Through intuition I carve futuristic cityscapes, full of towers, transportation, and technology not yet realized. Within the shading is a world where public transportation and amusement are one and the same. After enough time spent looking, the viewer is mesmerized and left to fill in the blanks. In all its abstraction it at first does not make sense. But like a riddle it unfolds and latches onto you.”
